Hub Deployment
The UbuntuPlay Hub is the central server that manages schools, organisations, licensing, and impact data. This guide covers what you need to know to get connected.
Managed Hub
The UbuntuPlay Hub is hosted and maintained for you at:
https://ubuntuplay.fly.dev
You do not need to run your own server. Everything is managed centrally. Your organisation portal, school connections, billing, and reports are all handled through this hub.
Available Portals
| Portal | Who it's for | URL |
|---|---|---|
| Organisation Portal | NGOs, school chains, district offices | /org/login |
| District Dashboard | Government district education offices (Ministry) | /district/login |
| Parent Portal | Families tracking learning at home | /parent |
| Developer Portal | Game and plugin developers | /dev/login |
| Hub Admin | Platform administrators | /hub/login |
| Documentation | Everyone | /docs |
The school-side Headmaster LMS is not a hub portal — it runs on the classroom server itself at /lms. See Headmaster LMS →.
Connecting a School to the Hub
When you add a school in the organisation portal, a connection token is generated automatically. Give this token to the teacher during classroom server setup — it registers the school with the hub and delivers the license key.
See School Setup → for the full classroom server installation guide.
Hub Connectivity
The classroom server connects to the hub over the internet when available. Between syncs, everything runs completely offline. The hub is used for:
- Delivering license keys to classroom servers
- Receiving anonymised impact reports
- Pushing software updates and broadcasts
- Serving app updates — all four Android apps check the hub's
/downloads/version.jsonand offer one-tap self-updates - Org portal access and billing
Custom Hub Deployment
If your organisation requires a dedicated private hub deployment — for data residency, compliance, or white-label requirements — contact us to discuss options.
