The UbuntuPlay Story
UbuntuPlay was born from a simple observation: while the world was racing ahead with online education, millions of students in Africa were being left behind due to the digital divide and the high cost of data.
Founded by Sobhuza Ziba under Zipangile, UbuntuPlay was designed from the ground up to operate in offline environments. We believe that technology should be an equaliser, not a barrier.
By turning an ordinary Android smartphone into a powerful local classroom server, we've enabled interactive, AI-powered learning in places where the internet is still a luxury.
Our Mission
We are on a mission to empower 1 million African learners by 2030. We do this by providing teachers with the tools they need to manage their classrooms effectively and providing students with engaging, curriculum-aligned content that adapts to their individual learning needs.
With the integration of Gogo AI, we are now bringing the power of personalized tutoring to the offline world, ensuring that every student has a guide on their educational journey.
